was the anniversary of the 'Battle of the Camels' in which pro-Mubarak
supporters attacked demonstrators in Tahrir Square in 2011. It marked a significant turning point in the demonstrations that helped overthrow Hosni Mubarak. The event is named after the camels some pro-Mubarak people rode on to attack protesters.

This is the site for Sean Binkley's blog based novel or 'blogvel' the Struggler.
An adventure and mystery set in Egypt after the January 25th Revolution of 2011, the Struggler, is a fictional story based in part on the two years the author spent living in the country between 2010 and 2012.
The Struggler attempts to reveal some of the social, economic and political issues that led so many Egyptians to go out into the street and overthrow their government as well as the great hardships, tragedies and political traumas that followed in the first year and half after Egypt's President of three decades left office.
The story follows the path of a young
American who returns to Egypt four days after the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak. As he tries to settle back into
life in a new Cairo, a mystery is unveiled through a
series of stories detailing the rise and fall of an enigmatic rebellious figure known as
'the Struggler'. This figure's fight for justice, spanning distant and recent upheavals in Egypt's modern history, reveals the
conditions that led to Revolution and the hardships and determination
of a people attempting to survive a harsh world and muddled horizons.
The four act novel, is available exclusively on this site. It will be uploaded several chapters at a time every ten days.
The first chapter of the Struggler will be made available on January 25th 2013, the second year anniversary of the Revolution.
The story is dedicated to the Egyptian shebab (youth) who protested, fought and died during the Uprising as well as to the the dream of a better Egypt. That dream is a struggle that continues to this day.
